62 FL Chop Rebuild 19
Fuel, Carb, Air Cleaner....
Somehow I misplaced the original '62 Linkert M74
carburetor that I pulled off the motor quite a few years ago....
It's around somewhere, just need to find it...
In the meantime, I do have another that was
on my '59 FL, so pulled it off the shelf and will
rebuild it....
This carb was on a running motor when I shut it down...
But I've ordered a rebuild kit and will go through it....
Took the carb apart....
It took some effort, it's been together a long, long time...
Finally got it apart....
Cleaned up all the parts....
Markings on the sides of the carb....
"Made in INDPLS, USA"
"1-1/2 Mod M"
"2 - 418"
Put it back together temporarily,
Now it looks like this.....
And this....
The float was swollen and it busted up pulling it out of the bowl....
So I ordered a "Durable" float from Liberty Cycle,
it's supposed to be immune to fuel ethanol problems....
Cleaned up the original pivot bracket, and used a new
mounting screw provided by Liberty with the float on my request....
The new screw and shank is slightly shorter then the oem one,
but it went together quite nicely....
I need to adjust it a bit, it is set a little high right now,
but I can do that when the rest of the rebuild parts arrive....
Waiting for the rebuild kit to arrive....
More Later....
